Ipoh Craftnerds @ Sekeping Kong Heng

Seeking for a more permanent platform to display their craft, four vendors from Kinta Craft Trail have come together to establish this space at Sekeping Kong Heng called Ipoh Craftnerds.

Since 1st May, these ladies have turned their hobby and passion into a business and Ipoh Craftnerds has been attracting a good number of visitors and shoppers, particularly during weekends.

The beauty of buying handmade craftwork items is that one can never get two identical things. So, it’s no wonder that Ipoh Craftnerds has received pretty good response.

A partner of Ipoh Craftnerds, Leong Chai Yuen of Why Not Elephants, spoke to me about her passion for elephants.

Since 2013, she has begun sewing elephant-themed household items for sale, not so much to generate income but to create public awareness regarding the conservation of these gentle giants, particularly those in Malaysia.

This collaboration among Ipoh crafters is a bold step forward for the craft scene in the city. Don’t you think we should support our local crafters if we are able to?
