Ipoh City Council is Perak’s First Local Authority to Broadcast Facebook Live
Adopting a new normal of going digital as and when possible, the Ipoh City Council (Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh – MBI) hosted its first Facebook Live, setting a new precedent among all local authorities in Perak, to broadcast its annual Assessment Lucky Draw for 2020.
The lucky draw is a much-looked forward to event of MBI among property owners in the city. Those who have fully paid their yearly assessment tax bills were eligible to participate in the lucky draw.
A total of 148,174 assessment bills were settled in full for one year in 2020, an increase of 14.5% compared to the previous year, bringing in a revenue of RM39.45 million, or 23.7% higher than last year’s RM31.9 million.
During yesterday’s draw, 330 slips were shortlisted to be in contention for the grand prize of Proton Saga 1.3 MT. Other prizes up for grabs include a motorcycle, electrical appliances and household items, collectively worth RM103,000.
During such unprecedented circumstances of COVID-19 pandemic, the lucky draw, which was postponed due to the Movement Control Order (MCO) which came into effect on 18th March, 2020, was held on Facebook Live for the public to view, as MBI staff diligently adhered to health and safety measures in compliance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
