International IPOH Fashion Week (IIFW) Season 6.0: From Taiping with Love

Last Friday, Taiping became the vibrant heart of Malaysia’s fashion scene, hosting the much-anticipated sixth season of the International IPOH Fashion Week (IIFW). With a theme of “From Taiping with Love”, the event’s setting was fitting for the occasion, as it coincided with Taiping’s 150th anniversary, blending a rich history with contemporary style and a heartwarming mission.

In his opening speech, IIFW founder Louis Sebastian said, “An event of this scale doesn’t come together without the dedication and support of many hands. OUR heartfelt thank you goes to the Perak State Government, Tourism Perak, and Majlis Perbandaran Taiping, along with our generous sponsors, including Kolej Komuniti Batu Gajah, Ipoh Hairdressers Association, Perak Malayalee Association, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad, Quest International Universiti, Lost World of Tambun, Jun Chillax Resources, Spritzer Mineral Water Malaysia, and of course, to the media partners and our committee and everyone involved for seeing us through to our sixth edition.”

Diverse Fashion Collections on the Runway

The IIFW runway came alive with an impressive lineup of designs from across Asia and beyond. Seventy models from 6 to 60 years old with varying backgrounds showcased collections that celebrated diversity and inclusivity.

International IPOH Fashion Week (IIFW) Season 6.0: From Taiping with Love brought together designers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Morocco; adorned models from Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Morocco and Egypt, each contributing their unique perspectives to the evening’s tapestry of fashion.

Designer highlights included:

Bajuux (Gene Martino & Polo Haus): A Malaysian brand blending traditional batik and kain sarong motifs, with the Sedondon Collection symbolising family unity.

VIQ: Offering a fusion of sportswear and beachwear, VIQ’s Tidalwave line brought coastal vibes to the runway with its versatile, stylish pieces.

Fashion for a Cause: Fundraising for Children’s Medical Care and Animal Welfare

A significant highlight of the event was the fundraising cheque presentation, symbolising IIFW’s commitment to charity. Benefactors included Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (KLK), Quest International University, and Jun Chillax Resources. These contributions were directed towards children’s medical care at Hospital Seri Manjung (RM35,000) and the welfare of animals at Zoo Taiping (RM2,000).

The occasion was elevated by an array of performances, blending music with style. Malaysia’s renowned singer Ayu Damit performed, her voice setting an enchanting tone, followed by a moving violin serenade from Martin Looi.

Indonesian stars Rita NaSiak and Fivien Novita also joined, infusing the evening with a touch of international allure. These performances added a layer of artistic diversity, bridging cultures through both music and fashion.

IIFW Season 6.0 was a testament to the power of fashion as a medium not only for creativity but also for driving change. By supporting children’s medical needs and animal welfare, IIFW reminded us that fashion is about looking fabulous while making a difference. IIFW was more than a celebration of style; it was an embodiment of love, unity, and the beauty of Taiping’s rich 150 years of heritage.
