What was initially planned as a simple gathering for Ipoh Facebook members of Huawei Honor 3C User Club on Merdeka morning turned out to be more than that.
With the support of members from Penang and Kuala Lumpur, plus recognition by Huawei Malaysia, which generously sponsored prizes for the games, it was a day where lasting friendships were forged. It didn’t matter that not all the members used a Huawei Honor 3C smart phone. Tee hee!!
Members gathered early in the morning for breakfast at Oldtown Kopitiam in Ipoh Padang. It was followed by a short visit around Old Town to check out some of Ernest Zacharevic’s popular wall murals.
Lunch was at Crossover in Festival Walk, where a prize-winning contest was held among the members. First prize of a Huawei Honor 3C smart phone worth RM499 went to Simmy Phang from Sungai Siput. Yours truly only managed to bag the third prize, which was a Huawei Bluetooth Speaker worth RM299.
The group then adjourned for a visit to Sam Poh Tong (limestone cave temple) before dispersing. Till we meet again, guys!
Special thanks to Huawei, where there were three staff from China and the sole Malaysian representative, Gary Boon, whose presence allowed for an informal sharing session regarding issues with the phone and future improvements on it; Wira Hidayat (club administrator), William Fong and Rene Goh (outing co-organisers), and everyone who made an effort to attend and made the day a success!
