Greetings From Badminton Legend, Dato’ Ng Boon Bee

Although I bump into Dato’ Ng Boon Bee once in awhile in Ipoh, I never approached him for his autograph, until I met him at Ipoh Swimming Club recently, where he launched the inaugural Dato’ Ng Boon Bee Cup, an inter-club badminton tournament.

Many of us know Dato’ Ng Boon Bee as an All England Doubles Champion and a member of the winning Thomas Cup team in 1967. However, Dato’ Ng Boon Bee’s sporting career is more illustrious than that, not only in badminton but also in football and rugby. Dato’ Ng Boon Bee was voted Sportsman of the Year in 1968.
