Announcement: Wesak Day Programme 2016 @ Wat Trum Jit Tavipassana

Today, I would like to share with you the Wesak Day programme for Wat Trum Jit Tavipassana (also known as Wat Trumcitta Vipassana).

This is a two-day programme which will begin on the eve of Wesak Day (Friday, 20th May, 2016).

Wesak Day is observed on May 21 (Saturday) this year. This holy day of devotion is also known as “Lord Buddha’s birthday” although it is a day to commemorate the birth, enlightenment and passing of Lord Guatama Buddha.

Wesak Day is widely celebrated in Malaysia by Buddhists throughout the country, thronging Buddhist temples and wats early in the morning, first to meditate on the Eight Precepts, followed by prayers.

Date: 20th and 21st May, 2016 (Friday and Saturday)
10am – offering of food for Bhikkhu
12pm – light refreshment
1pm – offering of robe for Bhikkhu
8pm – devotion
*for non-Muslims only

As I have not featured this wat (Thai temple) before on my blog, let me just share some photos with you.

This temple, which is located in Bercham Ipoh, looks very well maintained and has a lot of attractions as you can see from these photos.
