Sip & Chill Cafe at Taman Hoover hosted the 41st birthday celebration of award-winning Ipoh-born videographer-cum-short film director, Richmond Than, on 1st June 2024.

Richmond also took the opportunity to expand his media outfit by the name of Ipoh 691 Film Studio.

Incorporated on Christmas Day 2023 with like-minded friends into filming and production, 691 means “six packs into one” in Cantonese. It describes the bond among these twenty friends in a humourous way.

Over the past six months since its inception, Ipoh 691 Film Studio has already hosted a special screening of the movie “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In” for their Facebook fans, followed by organising a casting call for “I Am Kelefeh”, a comedy slated to be screened in conjunction with Chinese New Year 2025.

This June, Ipoh 691 Film Studio sees an expansion of four different channels on Facebook, each with a specific niche: Podcast, Fashion, Food & Entertainment.
