Ipoh Ranked Among Top Cities in Southeast Asia and World
Ipoh has secured the 22nd spot out of 55 cities in Southeast Asia and the 465th position out of 1,000 cities globally in the Oxford Economics’ new Global Cities Index 2024. This index includes 12 rated cities from Malaysia.
Kuala Lumpur was named the second-best city in the Southeast Asian region, following Singapore. Other Southeast Asian cities ranked globally include Bangkok, Thailand (192nd), Manila, Philippines (256th), and Jakarta, Indonesia (284th).
The Global Cities Index evaluates 1,000 major cities worldwide, spanning 163 countries. The index comprises five categories: economy, human capital, quality of life, environment, and governance, which are aggregated to generate an overall score for each city.
