Dogs in Holland
Having spent nine days in the Netherlands recently, it was fascinating to see so many dogs being taken out by their owners in their daily course of life.
Unlike in Malaysia where dog owners take time out of their day to walk their dogs first thing in the morning and as soon as they return home after a long day at work, dogs in Holland have a better life.
They get to partake in their owners’ daily routine, whether it’s running errands, shopping, having a cuppa or dinner. One lady who owns a clothes shop in Rotterdam even takes her dog out to her shop every day.
In today’s post, I am sharing some photos of dogs that I managed to catch on camera during my stay in the Netherlands, but these were just a fraction of what I saw because it wasn’t always that I had my camera prepared and on standby.
Dogs are everywhere, as you can see, and are allowed into certain shops and also food & beverage outlets.
They are even allowed on Metros and trams, without requiring a ticket, but I did not see them in cars or on bicycles.
If there’s one thing I miss about Holland, it’s its dog-friendly attitude…. and its cool weather, the friendly people and well-connected public transport.

You are right. In the Netherlands a lot of people do own a dog. And the treat their dog just like their kid. People here respect the dog.
