KLIMS 2026 Drives Malaysia Towards a Smarter, Greener Future
Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly visible on Malaysian roads, connected technologies are reshaping the driving experience, and sustainability has shifted from ambition to necessity. Mobility today is no longer confined to vehicles alone; it is about how people move, how cities function, and how technology integrates communities into a smarter, more connected future.

Against this backdrop, the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026 returns to the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) for its 11th edition, reaffirming its position as Malaysia’s premier international automotive showcase.
Organised by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) and managed by Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., KLIMS 2026 adopts the theme “Beyond Mobility”, reflecting a fundamental shift in how the industry defines transportation and innovation.
More than a showcase of vehicles, KLIMS 2026 presents a vision of how Malaysia intends to move forward in a rapidly changing global mobility landscape.
Beyond Mobility: Redefining the Automotive Landscape
The concept of mobility is undergoing a profound transformation.
Where once it focused primarily on cars and transport systems, it now extends into urban design, digital ecosystems, environmental responsibility and intelligent infrastructure. KLIMS 2026 captures this shift by presenting mobility as a connected, evolving ecosystem rather than a standalone industry.
KLIMS represents the transformation of the automotive industry from traditional transportation into a broader ecosystem with intelligent mobility solutions.
This perspective reflects how automotive development is increasingly driven by integration between technology, sustainability and user experience, rather than vehicles alone.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mohd Shamsor bin Mohd Zain, President of the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), further reinforced this vision, “Today, mobility is no longer just about how people commute; it is a reflection of how cities function and how technology connects communities through smarter and more sustainable solutions. KLIMS 2026 continues the same theme, ‘Beyond Mobility’, as we redefine the future of mobility in Malaysia.”
His remarks encapsulate the direction of KLIMS 2026, towards a future where mobility is cleaner, smarter, safer and more inclusive.
Green Mobility at the Core of Transformation
Sustainability remains one of the central themes shaping this year’s exhibition.
As Malaysia advances its energy transition agenda, the automotive sector plays a critical role in supporting lower-carbon transport solutions. KLIMS 2026 places strong emphasis on electrified vehicles (xEVs), alternative energy technologies and green mobility innovations that are redefining the industry’s future.
This aligns closely with national goals to reduce emissions and transition towards cleaner, more sustainable transportation systems.
Government representatives at the opening ceremony highlighted the importance of ensuring that future mobility solutions are not only technologically advanced, but also safe, accessible and environmentally responsible.
The message is clear: the future of mobility must balance innovation with responsibility.
Electric Vehicles Gaining Strong Momentum in Malaysia
One of the most striking developments in Malaysia’s automotive landscape is the rapid rise of electric vehicles.
Once considered niche, EVs are now becoming a mainstream choice among Malaysian consumers. This shift is driven by improved affordability, wider model availability, advancing technology and growing environmental awareness.
During KLIMS 2026, industry data revealed that EV adoption in Malaysia surged by 113.7 per cent in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.
This significant growth reflects a market that is evolving quickly, supported by expanding charging infrastructure, government incentives and increased participation from both local and international automotive players.
The introduction of supportive policies for local assembly is also expected to strengthen domestic capabilities, encourage vendor development and build long-term technical expertise within the industry.
A Global Showcase of Innovation
KLIMS 2026 brings together 18 automotive brands, offering visitors an extensive look at the latest innovations shaping the future of mobility.
The exhibition features exclusive model previews, new vehicle launches and futuristic concept showcases that highlight the direction of automotive design and technology.
From next-generation electric vehicles to intelligent mobility systems, the event provides a rare opportunity to experience how rapidly the industry is evolving.
More than 900 guests attended the grand opening ceremony, marking the start of ten days of immersive automotive discovery at MITEC.
Mobility Beyond Vehicles
KLIMS 2026 extends beyond traditional automotive displays to present a broader mobility ecosystem.
Visitors can explore not only passenger vehicles, but also non-motorised mobility solutions such as bicycles, scooters and pedestrian-focused innovations. The exhibition also showcases EV charging infrastructure, automotive components, mobility services and transport-related technologies.
This expanded scope reflects how mobility is increasingly interconnected with lifestyle, urban planning and sustainability.
In this context, KLIMS is no longer simply a motor show. It is a platform that reflects how people will live, move and interact in the future.
Strengthening Malaysia’s Automotive Ecosystem
Beyond innovation and exhibitions, KLIMS 2026 plays a significant role in strengthening Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem.
It provides a platform for collaboration between government agencies, manufacturers, suppliers, technology providers and SMEs, encouraging knowledge exchange and strategic partnerships.
Malaysia’s automotive sector continues to demonstrate strong resilience, recording a Total Industry Volume (TIV) of 820,752 units in 2025, marking the second consecutive year above the 800,000-unit threshold.
This performance reinforces Malaysia’s position as a key automotive market in the region, while also supporting long-term ambitions in industrial development, localisation and technological advancement.
A More Engaging Visitor Experience
KLIMS 2026 is designed not only for industry stakeholders but also for the general public.
Visitors can enjoy interactive showcases, lifestyle activities and immersive exhibitions throughout the event. The show blends technology with entertainment, creating an experience that appeals to families, enthusiasts and professionals alike.

To add further excitement, visitors also stand a chance to win prizes worth a total of RM125,000, including a Perodua Bezza as the grand prize.
