Digital IT Show is a four-day event at Ipoh Parade, Ipoh which kicked off yesterday and will end on 3rd April, 2011. I was lucky to be there just when the Mayor of Ipoh (Datuk Bandar) Dato’ Haji Roshidi bin Haji Hashim, was launching it this afternoon.
Since this is a “digital” show, products on display include 3D TVs, netbooks, notebooks and tablets, digital cameras and video cameras, printers and computer accessories. And then there are high speed internet service providers like DiGi and P1 WiMAX. Standard Chartered Bank also has a booth to promote credit cards.
I actually don’t have anything “digital” that I would like to buy at the moment, but I am keenly following developments in the tablet market. ViewSonic ViewPad 7 is selling at RM1399, after a RM100 discount. Competition is seriously stiff for tablets. The market is flooded with all sorts of China-brand tablets. I was told that some could only support up to Android 2.1 so one has to be careful when shopping for a computer tablet.
Other than tablets, I didn’t see anything else interesting. I had wanted a GPS device but if a tablet can run navigational software then there is no reason to purchase a separate device, unless there is an extraordinary deal that I couldn’t resist.
