PC Show that kicked off this morning at Dewan Leong Wan Chin, SMJK Perempuan Perak, Ipoh, is like a typical, well, PC show. I spent a little time there and the only new gadget that I noticed is the Garmin Nuvi 2575R, selling at RM1199. This new model comes with integrated driving recorder, analogue TV and voice activated navigation. It’s a tempting buy but at the speed technology progresses for GPS devices, I think it may be wise for me to hold on a little longer.
I find it a little misplaced that there is an electrical store displaying household appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators. Hello, PC Show?
I noticed that PC Show is the only IT fair in Ipoh that has a PC recycling programme. For any old device that you bring in, whether it is still in working condition or broken, you will receive a cash voucher redeemable at the 3-day PC Show.
Value of cash vouchers are as follows:
notebook – RM20
desktop monitor – RM12
CPU – RM8
printer – RM2
Not the best of deals but then better than letting them rust or rot at home.
The highlight of PC Show, though, is its daily gadget auction at 3pm. When I was there, an HP 3-in-1 printer and Apple iPad 2 were on the auction block. Obviously, both items were quickly snapped up.
Other goodies await visitors to PC Show include 6,000 free air tickets by Firefly, given away to the first 2,000 visitors a day.
