Delicious 5-Course Chinese Cuisine Lunch For As Low As RM25/pax
It’s like coming full circle since Chinese New Year earlier this year when we stuffed ourselves full with one “lou sang” after another, followed by course dinners. Then it was Ramadan with its month-long buka puasa fare and Hari Raya celebrations. In between, we tried different cuisines – the ones that come to mind are Krishna Bhawan’s Indian vegetarian meal, and 7 Sky @ MH Hotel Ipoh’s Western dinner enjoyed under the moonlight.
While Kok Thai Restaurant Ipoh is running a lunch set promotion, we snapped it up pronto and had our lunch there yesterday. There are two menus available every day, except on weekends and public holidays.
One menu is priced at RM138+, good for 5-6 pax, and the other is RM238+, for 10 pax. The cheaper menu has five courses, and the more expensive one offers six courses. Check this promotional poster, you will see that even the dishes are different. However, we selected the RM138+ menu because we were only four people.
Note that the price includes rice and tea, but excludes a plate of peanuts (RM3) and wet tissues. Therefore, our bill came up to approximately RM150 with 6% service charge. We had the plate of peanuts but declined the wet tissues.
Check out these actual photos of the food served to us. Very mouth-watering and up-to-restaurant-standard. The slight issues were the rice needed to be fluffier and the lone fly had to be caught first in order to have a perfect dining experience at Kok Thai. This restaurant is located along Jalan Sultan Nazrin Shah, behind Shake & Bake, but sharing the same compound. Kok Thai operates another restaurant at Tasek.
