A bowl of cendol (iced dessert drink with coconut milk and Malaccan palm sugar) is most welcome after a hot day of sight-seeing in Malacca.

Although there are many stalls that sell cendol, the not-to-be-missed cendol stall would be the one at the clock tower in Stadhuys, right in the heart of the city, by the Malacca River, where Hard Rock Cafe sits on the opposite bank.

Kassim, the stall holder of Cendol Jam Besar (Clock Tower Cendol) famous for its authentic cendol taste and generous ingredients, sells at least 300 bowls a day, sometimes up to 500 bowls. Each bowl is priced from RM1.70.

Kassim, whose grandfather, Mohammad, was famous for his mouth-watering cendol, is a third generation cendol seller.
