Cambodian Market (Pasar Kemboja)
While I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days at the Perak – Penang border to explore the area, I was quite surprised to see that there are many shopping spots.
What surprised me even further is that a lot of retailers from Ipoh and other cities around Peninsular Malaysia actually make weekly trips here to shop, at bargain prices, to be sold at their retail shops!
The weekly Cambodian Market (locally known as Pasar Kemboja) is a unique Saturday morning bazaar that should be visited, even if one has no plans to shop.
That’s because the bazaar has two sections, with one section in Perak, and the other in Seberang Perai, separated by a main border road by the name of Jalan Sempadan.
The 200 stalls here mostly sell Muslim clothing, but there are some that sell non-traditional apparel, and a small number sell vegetables and food.
This Cambodian Market is open from as early as 7am and closes as late as 2pm, but only on Saturdays!
