Asian-Western Fusion Cuisine @ Padi House Neighborhood, Ipoh

Awal Muharram (Maal Hijrah) being a public holiday, my family wanted to have a meal at the newly refurbished Stadium stalls. However, with the start of SUKMA XIX Perak 2018 on the same day (11th Sept), it was inconvenient driving to the area, what’s more with the road closures and such.

Vroom, off we went to town… or specifically, Greentown, to the classy Padi House Neighborhood. Although the reviews of this café on Facebook aren’t exactly glowing, what’s the harm of giving it a shot, right?

After all, I have always wanted to, since it opened for business slightly more than a year ago, not so much for the food, but its ambience. Padi House Neighborhood in Ipoh is the F&B chain’s tenth outlet, the first outside Klang Valley.

With Asian and Western fusion cuisine being served, what was our lunch at this pork-and-alcohol-free café by the unique name of Padi House?

Of course, first on the list was its signature Padi House Chicken Chop Rice. Adding on to our order were Singapore-Style Fried Mee Hoon, Sweet & Sour Chicken as well as Black Pepper Chicken. We also included Chicken Fingers. Come to think of it, there’s excess of chicken in a meal, right?

The flavours for the meat gravy were on point, except that I have one grouse: the rice was too hard. I think the cook misjudged the volume of water required for that pot of rice. Fret not, there was enough gravy to go about.

Complimentary free-flow lime drinking water is definitely a plus point for me. Who doesn’t like freebies, right? Service tax, on the other hand, is 6%. Deal or no deal?
