Announcement: Wesak Day Programme 2016 @ Enlightened Heart Tibetan Buddhist Temple
Wesak Day is observed on May 21 (Saturday) this year. This holy day of devotion is also known as “Lord Buddha’s birthday” although it is a day to commemorate the birth, enlightenment and passing of Lord Guatama Buddha.
Wesak Day is widely celebrated in Malaysia by Buddhists throughout the country, thronging Buddhist temples and wats early in the morning, first to meditate on the Eight Precepts, followed by prayers.
The following is the Wesak Day schedule by Enlightened Heart Tibetan Buddhist Temple observed every year.
Annual programme for Wesak Day at Enlightened Heart Tibetan Buddhist Temple (for non-Muslims only):
9am – 11am – Carry Lord Sakyamuni Buddha or Lord Yellow Dzambhala idol on your back to eradicate bad karma
11am – 12 noon – Sunning of the gigantic thangka to receive special blessings from Lord Sakyamuni Buddha12.30pm – Vegetarian lunch is served
12.45pm – Disciples roll back the thangka
1.30pm – 2pm – (2nd session) Carry Lord Sakyamuni Buddha idol on your back to eradicate bad karma
2pm – Release of live animals (liberation of animals)
