Andaman Group Mid-Autumn Festival / Miss Andaman World 2015

It was an evening filled with non-stop entertainment from 6pm onwards at Andaman Group’s Mid-Autumn Festival hosted at their Upper East @ Tiger Lane Sales Gallery in Ipoh.

Besides the celebration of the auspicious Mid-Autumn Festival with free mooncakes, colourful lanterns and fun, the main event of the carnival was the crowning of Miss Andaman World 2015 / Miss Malaysia Perak.

The fourteen finalists had their talent put to the test in the unique hybrid pageant, which wasn’t about the search for the fairest of them all but to look for the one who best represented the Andaman brand and the virtues that it embodies, including grace, confidence, courage, tenacity, creativity and passion.

The finalists were accompanied on the catwalk, first by dancing violinist Zoe J in the introduction round, then by 16-language singing wonder Iqwal during the angel lantern fashion show.

There were 16 subsidiary titles presented and the winners were:
Miss Photogenic – Bianca Yew
Miss Congeniality – Jayce Chin
Miss Popularity – Becca Lee
Miss I Queen – Ashley Loo
Face of Beauty – Ashley Loo
Miss Body Beautiful – Angeline Low
Miss Sweet Smile – Angel Loo
Miss Gorgeous Hair – Leanne Loh
Miss Social Media – Nicole Heng
Miss Adorable – Apple Cham
Miss Catwalk – Carron Kho
Miss Supermodel – Carron Kho
Miss Movie Diva – Nicole Khoo
Miss Song Talent – Gohara Haruki
Miss Dance Talent – Elaine Yeoh
Miss Master Talent – Hayate Yong

As you can see, everyone went home a winner! But wait! The top three winners were also crowned in this inaugural pageant. The queen walked away with a cash prize of RM3000, a sash, tiara and sponsored gifts. Meanwhile, the first and second runners-up took home cash prizes of RM1,500 and RM500 respectively, besides the sash, tiara and sponsored gifts.

2nd runner-up: Becca Lee
1st runner up: Ashley Loo
Miss Andaman World 2015 / Miss Malaysia Perak: Carron Kho

Newly-crowned Miss Andaman World 2015 / Miss Malaysia Perak Carron Kho, 24, is from Kuching. Of Chinese-Bidayuh parentage, the 167cm tall actress was visibly moved when the result was announced. Carron was my personal favourite and I was pleased to witness her flawless dance routine during the talent round. Her catwalk wowed the judges too. Congratulations, Carron, and all the best in the prestigious Miss Event World 2016!

The carnival didn’t end with the crowning of Miss Andaman World 2015, though. Besides Zoe J and Iqwal, a four-piece Chinese orchestra and Z Yan were also at hand to provide entertainment according to the theme of the evening.

And then there were still the lucky draw results to be announced. Yes, everyone who registered was entitled to participate in the draw, where a brand new Perodua Axia was offered as the grand prize.

Other prizes were a special VIP pass to Robert Kiyosaki Live in Malaysia as well as 18 VIP passes to ACV Music Festival 2015 featuring Paris Hilton, Havana Brown and DJ Leng Yein.

By the end of the evening, the winner of the Perodua Axia was found – 19-year-old Lee Weng Yee. The lucky devil!

Andaman Group Mid-Autumn Festival wrapped up with a ten-minute fireworks display that brightened up the sky of Ipoh, well, at least in the area of Polo Ground.
