Andaman Group’s Upper East @ Tiger Lane Wins Top 20 My Favourite Interior Designer (MFID) Award 2015

Designed by Design Base Sdn. Bhd. with a modern colonial theme, the show unit of Andaman Group’s Upper East @ Tiger Lane has been adjudged as one of the top twenty best fitted out show units in the country in the recent annual My Favourite Interior Designer Award.

Albeit a fairly new award, this annual competition strives to give recognition to local designers and architects, opening up new doors of opportunity for them.

Known by its acronym MFID, while acknowledging the ever-growing home and living industry as an important aspect of property development, its main objective is to elevate the standard of design in Malaysia to a higher and more competitive level.

Andaman Group Managing Director Dato’ Sri Dr Vincent Tiew, pleasantly surprised by the win, was suitably impressed to know that the show unit of Upper East @ Tiger Lane emerged as one of the Top 20 winners out of no fewer than one hundred submissions throughout the country.

He was taken aback to know that the entries were judged based on a point system given out by more than a hundred judges, not only Malaysians but also well-known figures in the industry overseas.

Among the local judges were Dr. Eric Leong, Amber Chia, Angel Wong and Goh Wee Ping.

Owner of Design Base Sdn. Bhd., Ms. Chew Kherk Min, was at the Upper East @ Tiger Lane Sales Gallery to receive an appreciation plaque from Andaman Group Managing Director Dato’ Sri Dr Vincent Tiew, a first ever win in this category for the property group’s ten-year history in property development in the country.

Ms. Chew, in accepting the plague, thanked Andaman Group for the opportunity to design the show unit of Upper East @ Tiger Lane. She said, “I am touched by this gesture by Andaman Group. I am thankful that my team had the opportunity and free hand to express ourselves through this project.”

Modern colonial was chosen as the theme for Upper East @ Tiger Lane. Said Dato’ Sri Dr Vincent Tiew, “This development is elegantly designed for our target market; those above 35 years of age who seek a home for their family.

“We needed the interior design to match our architecture and with the end-user in mind. Design Base Sdn. Bhd. managed to be creative with the theme. It is cosy yet minimalistic.”

While most major developers heavily invest in interior designs to capture the hearts of potential buyers, Andaman Group believes in investing less than 0.5% of the project’s Gross Development Value (GDV).

This show unit, known as Simplex with a size of 1162 sq. ft. features three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was completed early to allow potential buyers to have a better idea of how they could fit out their own unit.

Following this win, Design Base Sdn. Bhd. has become Andaman Group’s preferred interior designer and thus, engaged to undertake the interior design of the property group’s upcoming project in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, set to launch in the first quarter of 2016.

In these recent couple of months, not only did Andaman Group’s show unit win MFID, the property group bagged two other prestigious awards: iProperty People’s Choice Awards 2015 (Best Northern Development) and Malaysian Property Press Awards 2015 (Best Low-Rise Condominium), setting them a class above as a property developer.
