What was supposed to be a Saturday lunch at a new café in Ipoh Garden had to be diverted to dining at a tried and tested eatery in Ipoh Garden South, when the launch of the new café was postponed.
Although I went on Facebook to seek recommendations from friends, in the end, we settled for Restaurant One Two One Two. What an odd but memorable name! 1212 is actually the last four digits of their phone number.
1212 opened for business 3+ years ago. They have an extensive menu, with food prepared from three different parties within the shop. One is a chicken rice stall, the other is a noodles stall. And then there is the kitchen for wok-fried meals.
Ordering food can be confusing for first-timers due to its large variety of food, but the crew is helpful to point out whom we should order from. Also, despite the Saturday lunch crowd, our orders were served in a jiffy.
I find the prices here budget-friendly. No doubt, they are slightly higher compared to hawker stalls but this is a shop, so it’s understandable.
Most importantly, the food “got standard”, except that we could do with some bean sprouts in the dry curry noodles! Do take note that this is a non-halal eatery.
Have a look at our quickie lunch. New café can wait.
