9th Asia Cup 2013 Championship Match: Korea vs. India
The finals of the 9th Asia Cup was keenly contested between India and South Korea.
As defending champions, South Korea had a reputation as the ‘best in Asia’ to live up to. They are also the first Asian team to secure a spot at the Hockey World Cup at The Hague, Holland in 2014.
India, on the other hand, were still trying to secure a spot at the World Cup, as winning this tournament would guarantee them a ticket to Holland.
Despite a doubtful call on the fourth goal by South Korea, they were declared winners over India, with a score of 4 – 3.
The Koreans had already thrown down their hockey sticks in celebration before the final whistle was blown.
