The 23rd Malaysia Wushu Championship held at the school hall of SJK(C) Yuk Choy, Ipoh, wrapped up after two intensive days of competition. The 12 disciplines of competition saw a total of more than 370 exponents participating, coming to Ipoh from all over Malaysia.

The championship, organised by Federation of Wushu, Dragon and Lion Dance Perak and Federation of Wushu Malaysia was a high level competition, which attracted national wushu exponents who represented their respective state teams. As this was an open competition, exponents as young as nine years old had to compete against those double their age.

One thing I have to say that while the level of competition was impressive, the prize presentation at the end of the championship was poorly handled, dragging on for more than two hours. Anyway, Negeri Sembilan won five golds while Sarawak four and Melaka two.
