2015 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup – Match 17 – Korea 2 (1) – India 2 (4)
India and Korea met on the first day of the tournament with a 2-2 draw. This bronze medal match yielded similar results and victory had to be determined via penalty shoot-out.
Unfortunately, Korea (world-ranked #8) missed a couple of penalty shots and lost to India (world-ranked #9) by 1-4 margin.
Coach for India, Dutchman Paul van Ass couldn’t be more delighted after the game was over. India’s performance had been rather worrying at the beginning of the tournament and admittedly, his team did not do too well in this match.
However, the high quality shoot-out meant that they concluded in a better position than Korea.
Having said that this first assignment would be a platform to gauge his charges’ capabilities, hence Paul van Ass planned to take it from this tournament to further build up his team.
