Australia had an interesting mix of players, with World No 1 Jamie Dwyer appearing 322 times for his country, setting a new record, and Tim Cross, with his debut appearance for Australia. Both players contributed the goals, making this outing all the more memorable for them.

3. No. 7 Tim Cross, appearing for the first time for Australia and scoring his first goal for his country just 12 minutes into the match

Canada, meanwhile, having to adjust to a 40-degree turn in temperature, had no answer to Australia. Coach Anthony Farry, while conceding the strength of their opponents, felt that Canada only gave away too many chances at the last ten minutes of the game.

Still, to win matches, one has to take risks, and Canada did take calculated risks, although that was not good enough to keep the Kookaburras at bay.
