2012 SMK Seri Putra Open Chess Tournament

The inaugural SMK Seri Putra Open Chess Tournament, organised by the school and held at the school hall recently, saw the participation of some 90 chess players. The tournament was sponsored by the school’s headmaster, Tuan Haji Mohd. Harmain bin Mohd. Amin.

There were three categories; Under-12, Under-15 and Open category. Winners were presented with trophies, hampers and certificates of participation. Additionally, the winner of the Open category took home the challenge trophy.

According to the secretary of Perak International Chess Association (PICA), this tournament was good preparation for the school and students to participate in the upcoming MSS (Majlis Sukan Sekolah-sekolah) district competition.
