Got myself this trendy-looking power bank. It is a lot slimmer than my existing two unbranded units. I had thought that I could do without a power bank, which I did for a long time, thanks to Xiaomi Redmi Note’s long-lasting battery that lasted me from morning till night even when I was on the road.
However, upgrading to Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 came at a cost. The battery does not last as long but I have myself to blame for plugging in two 4G SIM cards and playing too much Candy Crush Saga and Candy Crush Soda Saga on the phone. After my recent episode at Genting Highlands where I arrived from Ipoh with a dead phone, I realised that I do again need extra juice from a power bank.
Somehow, my phone refuses to charge from my two existing power banks. I wouldn’t mind their slight bulkiness. After all, the bigger one is 30,000mAh. If only they worked!
So, it was time to get a new one. This original ABS power bank became my top choice not because of the leng chai (handsome chap) on the packaging but because of its dual fast charge USB outputs – both are 5V – 2.1A, instead of one 1A and the other 2.1A. This makes charging two devices at a go an easy and swift process. By the way, input is 5V – 2A. Giving it a full charge took slightly more than two hours only.
Aesthetically, it is like a smartphone because of its dermatoglyph finish design and it even has a mock rear camera which could fool anyone into thinking it’s the latest 5in-screen smartphone. By the way, this sleek power bank comes in four colours: black, white, light green and of course, my favourite colour, pink.
Best of all, this is the only power bank in the market that offers a 2-year one-to-one exchange, instead of the market standard of 6 months warranty. Being a heavy user, I really welcome this extra benefit.
Having used it for a week now, I’d say that I really don’t mind carrying it around. It is only as if I am carrying two smartphones. It’s so compact it fits into my work bag, handbag and slim sling pouch easily, along with my other necessities without taking up much space or add weight to my already heavy bag(s).
Compared to my 30,000mAh unit, this is only 12,000mAh but this is half its size and weight. And most importantly, it charges my phone (and tablet or iPod) well, for at least three to four cycles! What’s not to like about it?
In Ipoh, you can get yours at Tristar Mobile (Add: Lot No F-20, 1st Floor Mydin Mall, Jalan Meru Jaya Bestari B2, Bandar Meru Raya, 30020 Ipoh, Perak. Tel: 05-5265212). Check for other retail locations from THIS LINK. C Two Gadget is the sole distributor of ABS Malaysia.
Or, to save on the hassle of driving here and there, get this slim and nifty power bank online at the official ABS store on 11street.com.
My power bank retails at RM179 but in conjunction with National Day which is celebrated on 31st Aug, this official ABS online store is running a Merdeka Sale promotion, offering discounts of 20% – 30%. This model is being sold at a discount of 22%, which means it is only RM139 (inclusive of GST). But hurry! This promotion is valid until 31st August, 2016 only! Don’t let this great deal pass you by.
