The Octagon Chinese New Year Open House
With the objective to promote urban living and to bring back life to the heart of Ipoh City, the Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (PCCCI) has undertaken, under its company, One Octagon Sdn. Bhd., to develop a 23-storey luxurious condominium project, on the site of the iconic Yau Tet Shin market.
Upon completion in early 2015, The Octagon will be the tallest building in Ipoh city centre, making it the new landmark of Ipoh. With a per sq. ft. price of RM580, about 70% of The Octagon has been sold at this time.
In an effort to preserve its heritage, The Octagon is of an elongated octagon-shaped tower. Moreover, efforts are being made to attract retailers of local produce to the area, just like the old days.
And with its completion comes some adjustments to infrastructure. Jalan Raja Ekram (Cowan Street) as we now know will be a one way street for the stretch in front of The Octagon only.
In due time, the other three roads around the building, namely part of Jalan Mustapha Al-Bakri, Jalan Jubilee and Jalan Theatre will be turned into a cultural street, modelled after Jonker Walk in Malacca.
