Ipoh’s WEIL Hotel went a step up on its culinary offerings by introducing a guéridon service at TIFFIN all-day dining Restaurant during its Weekend Roast Buffet Lunch. A guéridon service at TIFFIN includes live cooking demonstration and duly presented to guests from table to table, from a trolley.

The “food” in question here means roasted lamb and/or beef, a main course in addition to the generous array on the buffet line. The introduction of this guéridon service, an idea from the head chef, is to ensure ideal serving temperature of the roast.

At TIFFIN Restaurant, there are two famous roast varieties: beef and lamb. I opted for lamb, since I don’t take beef. The meat was tender and succulent, plus its gamey taste was acceptable. Although some diners prefer their meat to taste more gamey, not me. This was just right for my preference.

Besides its roast, another highlight of TIFFIN’s weekend buffet lunch is its California maki, a handmade makizushi sushi roll made from the freshest ingredients. Gently wrapped within a thin slice of edible seaweed sheet (nori) are sushi rice, cucumber strips and pieces of avocado.

  1. This is very interesting that the chef can show how the food is prepared, can learn how to do by ourselves next time. The meat, juices and veges looks fresh too.

  2. This is certainly an upgraded dining experience to be able to see first-hand how our food is being prepared right in front of us. I hope more restaurants will try this guéridon service. 🙂

  3. Wow that is a new concept for hotels to attract more customers, its same concept at the teppanyaki restaurant but this one, the chef goes from table to table.
Anyway, i love roasted lamb. Drooling when i see the photos here.
