On the auspicious day of 人日 (Yan Yat in Cantonese) observed on the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, which fell on 3rd Feb this year, Hotel Excelsior in Ipoh invited three ferocious “lions” to perform an energetic acrobatic dance to usher in the Year of the Rooster.
Amidst thumping of the drum and clashing of cymbals, a 108-foot long firecracker was lighted up, giving new meaning to “making a loud entrance into the New Year”.
A pair of lions visited the different sections of the hotel to shower blessings for improved business in the year ahead.
Chinese New Year is traditionally a season to celebrate togetherness among family and friends. At Hotel Excelsior, the directors spent time with their staff, in a most meaningful way, as the God of Prosperity paid a visit and greeted everyone with “Gong Xi Fa Cai”.
Meanwhile, in front of the hotel, the three lions performed acrobatic stunts to the delight of hotel guests and members of the public, who clapped and cheered appreciatively with every heart-stopping movement on the stilts.
Sharing with you are some photos taken at the event yesterday morning.
