The official name of Polo Ground is Taman Rekreasi Sultan Abdul Aziz. It is very popular with exercise enthusiasts, especially in the evenings and on Sunday mornings.

  11. Good writeup Emily. I have an appreciation for Ipoh’s history, the people, the diversity in religion beliefs, places of worship and the beautiful natural surroundings. However, I draw the line at visiting libraries and mental hospitals on my vacations !! That said, the grounds and vast open space of the Bahagia Ulu Kinta Hospital is wonderful.

    It’s not everywhere in Malaysia one gets to visit a mental hospital. There are only two – the second, smaller one is in Tampoi, Johor.

    So, it is an attraction, though may not be everyone’s preference.

  18. I’ve seen ur post about recreational places and places to be visited around ipoh and some other places. I have a kind request for u to upload indian places to be visited as mostly the places were based on malay and chinese. Forget about indian Muslims places that is totally islamic. We r in multiracial country, that hv to acknowledge every part of ethnicity. GOD wont punish if you post article and interesting places to be visited pertaining to indian society like big temples, indian food restraunt and so on. I hope u will consider my request and we must stop against discrimination.

    is the public transportation is good in Ipoh?
    Or do we need to rent a car? Anyone know about the price for rent a car? can Indian driving licence holders drive a car in Ipoh?

    No, public transport in Ipoh is not that reliable. However, you can use Uber around town.

    As for car rental in Ipoh, I know of this company: http://www.asiacarrental.com.my/

    I have to clarify that I have not used their service before so I don’t know how good they are.

    I am not sure if Indian driving licence is valid in Ipoh (or Malaysia in general). It would be better if you could convert it to an international licence.
