More than RM400K Raised at the Glitzy International IPOH Fashion Week IIFW™ 3.0

In what was touted as THE event of the year for Perak, International IPOH Fashion Week IIFW™ 3.0 lived up to its objective of “fashion for charity” by raising a hefty RM421,300 for Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and another RM15,000 for a shelter for the homeless & abused known as Rumah Teduhan Kelana.

The red carpet “Night of Glamour and Glitter” gala dinner was graced by DYMM Raja Permaisuri Perak Darul Ridzuan Tuanku Zara Salim, accompanied by DYTM Raja Puan Besar Perak Darul Ridzuan Raja Nazhatul Shima Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Afifurlah Shah, and DYAM Raja Puan Muda Perak Darul Ridzuan Tunku Soraya Binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.

Supported and endorsed by the Perak State Government, Kasih Perak, Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh as well as Tourism Perak, the annual International IPOH Fashion Week (IIFW) took on a life and energy of its own since it was inaugurated in 2017.

This much-anticipated fashion extravaganza of the year on Perak’s tourism calendar of events kicked off on 16th October with workshops and courses on hair, fashion and styling. These were followed by runway fashion showcases.

During his opening speech, IIFW™ Founder-cum-CEO Louis Sebastian said, “IIFW is a single event that gives access to a large number of Fashion Week designers, classic labels, and the hottest trendy garments. The designers are not only showing their newest designs but also selling ready-to-wear pieces at a bargain price. These designers pursue their philosophy of fashion that can be made out only when all is seen as one trendy entity in colour, cut, and accessories.

“Fashion has become a large part of identity-making in the post-human world in which people play dress-up with their clothing. We care about what we wear a great deal because our culture emphasises an outward appearance.

“Today I am proud to showcase International IPOH Fashion Week (IIFW™) Season 3, an event that has an important bearing on our economy and contributes to our international standing in the world fashion stakes. It attracts lovers of fashion from all over the world, using the official IIFW trademark and at best can generate a proper pride in national identity and resourcefulness.”

The glitzy and glamourous event featured an exclusive line-up of fashion designers plus celebrities such as Amanda Brown, Datin Sharifah Kirana & Hajaros, Dato’ Radzuan Radziwill, Chic N Sleek, Urban Niche from Malaysia and International fashion labels from Singapore, Indonesia, India and Nepal. Jewellery was by Angie Jewels & Co, hair by the Sensational Khaljaksa of HSDA & The Hit Barber team, makeup by Elmanda Zuhairy and shoes by Jimmy Chia. A total of 30 female and 10 male models of international standard took to the runway, to the delight of the enthusiastic audience.

At the gala dinner, IIFW™ patron-cum-adviser YABhg. Datin Seri Dr Nomee Ashikin reminded all to lend their full support to the event as part of our social responsibility effort. She said, “As a pediatric cardiologist, the saddest thing is losing a patient but the pain is unimaginable for family members of the patient. Besides emotional burden, financial burden is also something that the family has to bear.”
