“The Economic Reality of Malaysia Today” by Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah
YBM Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, or more affectionately known as Ku Li, or in his Parliamentary Constituency of Gua Musang as Ku Kita, was once again invited by Perak Academy to give a lecture, this time on the topic, The Economic Reality of Malaysia Today.
Born in 1937, Tengku attended the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) and subsequently, Anderson School in Ipoh for his Higher School Certificate. He was conferred an honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LLD) by Queen’s University, Belfast in 1982.
Actively involved in politics since 1962, Tengku was Finance Minister for Malaysia from 1976 to 1984 and then Trade and Industry Minister from 1984 to 1987. Currently, he is Malaysia’s longest serving Member of Parliament for Gua Musang.
Recently, Tengku announced his retirement from politics when his term is up.
