the aMUzing run 2019
MÜ Hotel Ipoh organised the aMUzing run yesterday morning in conjunction with an anti-smoking campaign in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (Malaysia), and other NGOs with the main objective of promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The inaugural 5km charity fun run was co-organised with Mirakel Worldwide, and received generous sponsorship from the Ministry of Health (Malaysia), Tourism Perak, SK Sound and Lighting, Fit Unit, Herbalife Nutrition, Chek Hup, Julie’s Biscuits, Seven Days Decorator, Rose Cottage, The BGD / Beauty Balloons, MOMA water, Yee Hup Traditional Pastries, Chang Jiang White Coffee, Hotlink, Fair View International School, Fan C Balloon, and Vschool Trend, among other corporations.
With an entry fee of only RM35, entrants received a limited edition t-shirt, a goodie bag, certificate, refreshment, as well as the chance to participate in a lucky draw.
The run, flagged off by Perak ExCo for Youth, Sport & Human Development YB Howard Lee at 7.30am, saw the approximate 300 participants of all ages start from MÜ Hotel Ipoh to Jalan Kampar, Jalan Sultan Nazrin Shah (formerly Jalan Gopeng), and back to the hotel.
Preceding the run, entrants had a warm-up session guided by Coach Francis Wong of Unit Fit. They also concluded the race with a cool down exercise led by Amir from Aerodance.
Prizes were awarded to the top five male and female runners respectively, each winning the following:
1st placing – prizes worth RM600 (one night’s stay at MÜ Hotel with complimentary breakfast, plus F&B vouchers) + medal
2nd placing – prizes worth RM400 + medal
3rd placing – prizes worth RM250 + medal
4th & 5th placing – prizes worth RM190 + medal each
During the significant event, a host of side activities were available for participators, including sampling health beverages, free health screening, health advice and more.
The response to this first-ever aMUzing run was indeed positive that the organisers are considering to make this an annual event.
Meanwhile, the hotel took the opportunity to give back to the community by donating RM2,000 each to two charity homes in Ipoh, namely Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Ipoh, and Pertubuhan Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Setia.
