Participants of KCC1M Sabah 2012 were hosted by Starbucks Malaysia at the outlet in Suria Sabah Shopping Mall during their trip to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah recently. En. Salleharon Ahmad, PR and Communications Manager of Starbucks Malaysia, who was on hand to greet his guests, took the opportunity to get to know better members of the media fraternity and travel agencies from Malaysia and Indonesia.
A special Starbucks taste testing demonstration was conducted, an introduction on how to determine good coffee. Despite not drinking much coffee, I too joined in, and learned something new. First, get ready a piping cup of hot coffee, with no added sugar, cream or flavour. Cover 3/4 of the brim of the cup with your palm, and smell the coffee by putting your nose to the 1/4 opening.
Then slurp the coffee loudly – make sure that the coffee flows inside your entire mouth. Gulp down and taste where the coffee leaves its taste. Is it the front of your mouth, middle, or back? This is quite a tricky process as the coffee has to be biting hot. You are supposed to burn your tongue. LOL
Coffee is best drunk with a piece of fruit cake, which you are also supposed to smell first, then only eat. After a bite and chew, wash it down with coffee. Ahhh, heavenly!
After the coffee taste testing, the Starbucks outlet was ours. We were generously served with sinfully delicious cakes, especially Chocolate Tuxedos; muffins, pies and free-flow of Starbucks’ signature black coffee. Yahoo!
Those who requested for Grace Ong’s Iced Vanilla Zen Tea Jelly were lucky enough to try first-hand her special brew. Yes! Grace, the winner for Starbucks Fresh Face Barista 2012 was around to introduce her creation to us.
Check the rest of this post to see the joy and fun we had that night!
