Shuddup N’ Dance 2017 @ Ipoh Parade
It was an intense battle at Ipoh Parade two weekends ago – a battle of dance skills, creativity and wits, when the two-day Shuddup N’ Dance went underway.
The dance competition attracted 45 solo dancers, 12 junior crews and 15 dance groups, including international dancers from Indonesia, the Philippines and the United States. The three categories competed were 1-on-1 Freestyle Battle, Junior Showcase and Open Crew Showcase.
These photos were taken on the second day, where I witnessed the 1-on-1 Freestyle Battle and Open Crew Showcase. I have to say that for five hours, I was kept on the edge of my seat! I may not be a dancer myself but I could certainly see that it takes a lot of hard work to reach competition level, even for amateur dancers.
At the end of the two-day challenge, Penangite The Slenderman walked away as the solo champion for this leg, and he, along with the three runners-up, will represent the northern region in the Grand Finals to be held in the Klang Valley some time in August.
Meanwhile, the five-member Isodope was declared the group champion, taking home with RM5,000 in cash and prizes! They, along with the two runners-up, will also be heading to the Klang Valley to battle it out with the other winners in the CITTA Mall and Klang Parade legs.
1-on-1 Freestyle Battle Results

Now that the dance challenge has kick-started, the second and third legs of the competition in CITTA Mall and Klang Parade in July and August respectively will be even more exciting to watch. I don’t know about you, but I wish to be there, too!
