Sailing Along Scheveningen Coast on Tall Ship Minerva
On a free day during the Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014, a special press programme was organised by The City of The Hague and yours truly, a travel blogger, was invited along too.
On board the chartered Tall Ship Minerva, we sailed along the Scheveningen Coast for close to an hour, and another façade of The Hague, known as the international city of peace and justice, was introduced to us.
Besides being the host for Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014, The Hague will also be a major sporting venue in 2015, hosting both the prestigious Volvo Ocean Race and World Cup Beach Volleyball.
Volvo Ocean Race 2015, one of the world’s most extreme sailing events, will be in The Hague for 24 hours on June 19, 2015, making a pit stop at Scheveningen Harbour.
On the other hand, to host World Cup Beach Volleyball 2015, a floating stadium on the Hofvijver will be erected, right in the heart of the city, with the world renowned museum The Mauritshuis and Dutch parliament, the Binnenhof, as backdrops. Similar to Rabobank Hockey World Cup, the Plein next to Parliament will be turned into ‘Beach Club Het Plein’.
