Rise and Shine by Tapestry KL

While researching on cafés to hop to during my weekend stay in Kuala Lumpur recently, one of the newest cafés that received numerous mentions was Rise and Shine by Tapestry KL.

Opened just six months ago, after checking out its photos on Google, I decided that this was one café worth going to and impromptuly changed my plans. Somehow, Rise and Shine by Tapestry KL reminds me of Myth Eatery & Bar in Ipoh.

Located along the Asian Heritage Row, opposite YTL’s luxurious Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur, Autograph Collection; Rise and Shine by Tapestry KL is just a short walk from the Medan Tuanku monorail station that is interconnected with Quill City Mall.

I was there on a Saturday afternoon and the café was already teeming with customers. Some others were milling at the entrance. I found out later that they were waiting to be seated, and the waiting list could be long. Anyway, diners needn’t wait in line as they are at liberty to leave their mobile numbers and wait to be called. My waiting time was less than 30 minutes but I took the opportunity to walk around the neighbourhood like a busybody checking out this and that, including Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur.

Similar to VCR Café Kuala Lumpur, Rise and Shine by Tapestry KL does not have an extensive menu. The items are also priced on the high side. Is it Kuala Lumpur standard? To give you a bit of perspective, my mug of hot chocolate cost RM15. On the other hand, water was available free-of-charge.

Although I would like to try some of the desserts here, I already had lunch. Moreover, a scheduled course dinner was awaiting later that evening. Therefore, this calls for another visit, regardless of its limited main courses. Also, the next time, I will ensure that I go on a weekday, so as to better enjoy its ambience and not be overwhelmed by the crowd and chatter.
