After a substantial 10-month renovation commencing in June 2023, Cititel Express Ipoh is delighted to welcome guests back with a fresh new look and upgraded facilities.
Situated in the heart of Ipoh, the hotel has undergone a remarkable transformation, blending contemporary design with practical amenities. This makeover, which cost over RM8 million and was led by a top interior design company from Kuala Lumpur, promises to elevate the guests’ experiences in the city.
With its strategic location, Cititel Express Ipoh offers stunning views of the cityscape, including Kinta River, iconic Ipoh Padang, and the surrounding mountain range.
The hotel’s room count has been reduced from 210 to 189, allowing for an enhanced guest experience on the top floor (Level 12), which now features the hotel’s new lobby, a stylish lounge, meeting rooms, plus the Padang Terrace Coffee House.

The newly open Padang Terrace Coffee House is more than just a dining spot; it’s an experience. Guests can relax and enjoy panoramic views of Ipoh Padang through floor-to-ceiling glass windows while savouring a variety of yummy food that blend with traditional besides modern flavours. This unique setting makes Padang Terrace a must-visit, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Additionally, in-house guests enjoy 20% off their F&B bill at the Padang Terrace Coffee House.
A Commitment to Sustainability and Guest Satisfaction
With the refurbishment, 105 of the 189 rooms have been updated with a modern and minimalist design, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests.
Committed to reducing its environmental impact, the hotel has introduced a range of sustainable practices, including reducing plastic waste with water dispensers on each floor and using bamboo key cards. QR codes have replaced conventional paper menus, offering guests a more sustainable and convenient way to access information. Wall-mounted dispensers have been installed to minimise usage of plastic bottles.
Furthermore, the hotel has upgraded its in-room entertainment and now offers 5G internet access, allowing guests to connect up to four devices per room.
Hotel Manager, Puan Masyitah Dato’ Muhamed Noor Husen, highlighted the importance of these changes, stating, “We’re not just refreshing our facilities; we’re also embracing sustainable practices to ensure that our guests have a responsible, yet enjoyable, stay.”
Special Offers and Future Plans
To celebrate its reopening, Cititel Express Ipoh has rolled out a series of promotions for both leisure and business travellers.
In partnership with Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), the hotel is offering discounts on accommodation and dining for guests who arrive in Ipoh by train. Simply present the ticket via the KTMB mobile app to enjoy RM15 off accommodation and 15% off food and beverages. This offer is valid until June 2025.
Meanwhile, those visiting for medical treatments can take advantage of special packages in collaboration with KPJ Healthcare Berhad.
The hotel is also planning to launch Work From Hotel packages soon, catering to the needs of modern professionals.
Cititel Express Ipoh’s parent company, IGB Berhad, is optimistic about the prospects of Ipoh’s tourism industry. They have recently acquired a new property in the city, with plans to open another hotel in 2025, further strengthening their commitment to the city’s development.

The hotel is also set to introduce additional conveniences next year, including self-check-in kiosks and in-room flight information checkers, making a stay here even more seamless.
