Pre-Event: Impiana Cup

The first ever Impiana Cup, an inter-hotel futsal tournament will kick-off tomorrow, Sunday, October 20, at the Pro Sports Arena in Ipoh. The objective of this indoor football tournament is to create camaraderie between those in the hospitality industry.

Organised by Impiana Hotel Ipoh in collaboration with Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Perak Chapter, 18 Perak hotels and resorts are taking part, plus Impiana Hotel Cherating. Each property will be represented by one team, except for Impiana Hotel Ipoh and The Banjaran, who will be sending two teams each.

According to Impiana Hotel Ipoh General Manager En. Kamarudin Kassim, depending on the success of this tournament, Impiana Cup would be made into an annual event, possibly with the participation of teams from outside of Perak, and with better prizes. This year’s male-only tournament may even see the inclusion of female players in the future.

The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) had earlier organised futsal tournaments in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

As there are 21 teams, so there are five teams in a group, except for Group D, which has six. This means that each team will play four games in the first round.

The kick-off match will be between Impiana Hotel Ipoh (A) and MH Hotel Ipoh, from Group A. There will be nine players in each team, four of whom are substitute players.

The champion team will take home RM1000 plus the challenge trophy. Second place will receive RM750 while third place, RM550. All players in the top three teams will also receive a medal and certificate.

All are welcome to the venue to support their favourite teams. Admission is free-of-charge.
