Although Kuala Kubu Bharu is best known for its whitewater rafting activities, another pursuit to indulge in is paragliding.

Organised by Kelab Luncur Udara KKB (Paragliding Club of Kuala Kubu Bharu), the price per flight is RM250. Obviously, one is not allowed to fly solo unless he or she is qualified. Therefore, for the general public like us, we can only do in tandem.

Tandem flights, to me, are actually more interesting because one does not need to worry about anything technical at all except to enjoy the sights. And it looks amazing high up in the sky, looking down to the natural environment!

Do you know that this area has received testimonials from some of the top paragliders in the world for having the best view-cum-facilities? Last year alone, three major paragliding competitions were hosted here: Malaysia Accuracy Open, Paragliding Accuracy World Cup and Malaysia Open Cross-Country.

To fly tandem, just bring yourself but of course, you would need to wear sneakers as you are required to run during take-off and perhaps, even during landing. Also, it could be quite cold up in the sky!

If you are in Kuala Kubu Bharu for paragliding, the take-off point is from Bukit Batu Pahat which is 1400-foot above sea level, whereas the landing point is the Stadium Millenium, ideally. The meet-up point is at the stadium, where the organisers will ferry participants by 4WD to Bukit Batu Pahat, 15 minutes drive away.

Depending on wind conditions, a paraglider could fly some 100 to 120 km/h up to a height of 4,000 feet. This is the reason paragliders need to be patient and have basic fitness and arm strength. They also need to understand meteorological changes. Basically, skills and knowledge make a good pilot.

  1. Didn’t know there’s paragliding in Selangor! I love paragliding, especially the few moment running downhill to fly up high.

  2. Looks like a great activity but a bit scary. Bravo to the brave ones that dare to try it out.

  3. Looks cool! I wanna try it on next time. I like to know that RM250/flight, are they limit us on the time?

  4. Hi Yoke Ching Mah,

    The price is for ONE flight irrespective of how long you are in the air. That depends on the wind condition.

  5. omg! I wish to try this out! May I know what is the best timing to play this dear?

  6. @Sharon Lee,

    Nope, not this time. The wind died down and so, we had to go home.

    @Shirley,

    There is no best time…as long as the wind is good.
