Opening of Kong Fu Kopitiam and The China Pavilion in Ipoh

On 8th January 2025, the historic Perak Ku Kong Chow Association building at 39, Jalan Panglima, Ipoh, played host to the official opening of Kong Fu Kopitiam and The China Pavilion.

Although both venues began operations in September 2024, this special event celebrated their facilities with a lively blend of tradition and community spirit.

A Spectacular Start

The celebrations kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, graced by VIP guests Dato’ Sri Desmond Loh (Perak Chinese Chamber Of Commerce And Industry Adviser), Mr Chong Wei Lik (PCCCI Secretary General) and Datin Caroline Wong, alongside the proud proprietors of the two ventures.

The crowd was soon captivated by the double lion dance, with its pulsating drumbeats plus the clashing of cymbals, creating a sense of energy and excitement. To crown the festivities, firecrackers were set off, their bright sparks and loud crackles marking an auspicious start for both establishments.

(功夫茶餐厅) Kong Fu Kopitiam: Local Delights for All

Located on the ground floor, Kong Fu Kopitiam offers an inviting space to enjoy Muslim-friendly local cuisine. From fragrant nasi lemak to crispy kaya toast paired with a steaming cup of kopi, the kopitiam combines traditional Malaysian flavours with a warm and inclusive dining experience.

The China Pavilion: A Showcase of Heritage

On the first floor, sharing space with the Kwan Tak-hing Memorial Hall, The China Pavilion provides visitors with a lovely selection of Chinese-inspired arts, crafts, and products.

A New Addition to Ipoh’s Old Town

Together with Kwan Tak-hing Memorial Hall, Kong Fu Kopitiam and The China Pavilion have transformed the Perak Ku Kong Chow Association building into a vibrant destination in Ipoh Old Town, offering culinary delights, including cultural exploration for locals and tourists alike.
