Open Invitation to Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival With Ipoh Parade

With Mid-Autumn Festival, or Mooncake Festival, just around the corner, popular shopping mall Ipoh Parade has lined up four days of activities for shoppers to celebrate together, free-for-all, with the theme “Reunion under the Moonlight”.

Mid-Autumn is the season to celebrate togetherness with loved ones. Evidently, the management hopes to bring everyone together this time around, as the previous Mooncake Festival celebration at the mall was in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Alan Thoo, Head of Marketing for Ipoh Parade, the specially-curated events are steeped in Chinese culture, making this an opportune time to spread awareness and educate the younger generation on the significance of Mid-Autumn Festival, and more importantly, why and how it is being celebrated.

Launching the Mid-Autumn celebrations at Ipoh Parade with the theme “Reunion under the Moonlight” are Lim Huey Tyng (6th from left) and Alan Thoo (7th from left), alongside co-organiser team members from Catholic High School Alumni Association (CHSAA) (3rd-5th from left).

Among the activities are the Oriental-themed arts & crafts workshop, performances plus a photo booth with traditional costumes. The mall is also bringing back the all-time favourite of LED Lion Dance Performance on Saturday, 3rd Sept. In addition, 500 lanterns are distributed for free to participants of the much-anticipated Lantern Parade. Shoppers are also welcome to bring their own lanterns.

The eco-friendly Lantern Making Contest (co-organised with more than 20 Lions Clubs in Perak) will also be making a comeback on the same day, and competitors can look forward to winning prizes totalling RM3,450 for both the on-site and off-site challenges.

Ipoh Parade’s main court is adorned with multi-coloured lanterns and jade rabbits, cheerfully welcoming shoppers for the Mid-Autumn celebrations.

For the Chinese calligraphy and art lovers, The Art Studio and Perak Yuk Choy Alumni Association are proud to bring to shoppers a Chinese Arts & Calligraphy Workshop, Chinese Calligraphy Demonstration, including a sharing session on Friday, 2nd Sept. from 3pm to 9pm.

Celebrations reach the climax on Sunday, 4th Sept. when the Acrobatic Lion Dance Competition, organised together with Catholic High School Alumni Association (CHSAA) Dragon & Lion Dance Troupe and Pertubuhan Tarian Singa Dan Naga Hong Teik, Malaysia, takes centre stage. 12 elite troupes will be taking part in this competition this year, and they will be competing for the whopping RM17,200 prize pool.

Throughout the 4-day event, Perak Art Society and Faerie Lee Dollsculpture Studio will hold an art exhibition at Ipoh Parade for the first time. Artworks of different forms and mediums will be exhibited on the ground floor of the mall.

Ipoh Parade’s Advertising & Promotions department assistant manager, Lim Huey Tyng said, “We are glad that we are able to bring back such a meaningful celebration to the community. Our shoppers have started asking about the Lantern Making and the scheduled programme earlier in the month. We also thank our valued sponsors, which include Dzi Kingdom, Focus Point, Fly Flot, Starbucks, MOG, Illusion and Dees, for joining us in making this 4-day celebration much more memorable.”

Those who are interested to take part in the Lantern Making Contest may register at Ipoh Parade’s Official Facebook Event Page https://fb.me/e/3Ao5M5xS7
