Menglembu Cultural Corridor (Menglembu Murals)
Colourful murals seem to be the proven formula in attracting visitors to a certain place. The latest attraction in this regard is the Menglembu Cultural Corridor, in Taman Rasi Jaya, Menglembu.
Led by art teacher-cum-artist Chin Choon Yau of Funny Pencil art school, who is from Menglembu himself, there are currently twelve murals and still counting.
Chin began painting the walls of the back lane between two rows of commercial shop houses in mid-May this year and with the support of local businesses, it looks like he’s not stopping anytime soon.
All these murals depict life in Menglembu, past and present. I think it is an excellent idea to preserve the history of the community for the benefit of the younger generation.
This project is a working progress so it will continuously bring us fresh surprises.
As for now, visitors are able to take photos with these murals and if they come by on Sunday morning from 10am to 12 noon, they can enjoy some Chinese cultural street performances.
While in the area, it is a good idea to try out some of the food. Recommended eateries (all non-halal) are Restoran Kaki Bukit, Kopitiam Chi De Fu, Pete Corner and Restoran Chai Kee Bak Kut Teh.
