The launching of Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta 2022 was officiated by Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin, the Crown Prince of Selangor at the Royal Selangor Yacht Club in Port Klang. This year, the 32nd Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta has officially kicked off on the 19th of November at 4pm, in view of Malaysia’s 15th General Election that was held on the same day. This was to ignite Malaysians to fulfil their civic duties prior to the event.
The Honourable Mr Hee Loy Sian, Tourism and Environment Executive Committee Chairman for the State of Selangor, in a statement said, “Through Tourism Selangor, the Selangor State Government is funding the staging of this event to stimulate sailing activities and sporting events that develop healthy competition. This serves as a forum for foreign participants to promote culture, arts, and heritage while helping to enhance the state’s tourism sector.”
The organisation of the Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta is enlivened with several activities, such as a river cleaning programme and FAM Trip Programme, with interested participants. This is to drive the participants towards local heritage tourism and aims to indulge the group with Klang gastronomy, specifically our heritage food such as “Nasi Ambeng”.
Sailing Games, such as the Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta, will establish Selangor as a Sports Tourism Hub, attracting a large number of foreign tourists and showcasing Selangor as a credible sailing sports destination. This is in line with the Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere Campaign that is geared towards positioning Selangor on the global map.
