Ipoh City Council Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration

For the first time ever, the annual Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration hosted by Ipoh City Council was graced by both the Menteri Besar of Perak and a Federal Minister.

The venue of the function, Stadium Indera Mulia, was abuzz with activity yesterday afternoon with the arrival of guests-of-honour Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Y.B. Tan Sri Haji Noh Omar and Perak Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir.

Tan Sri Noh, who assumed office only on 27th June, 2016 brought good news that Perak’s first affordable homes scheme is ready to be launched. Located in Seri Iskandar, there are 99 units of double-storey houses priced from RM160,000. The second project to follow is located in Kemunting. This undertaking offers 260 units of similar houses. Besides these two schemes, in the pipeline are four more in Perak alone.

Besides attending this Hari Raya celebration by Ipoh City Council, Tan Sri Noh’s first official trip to Ipoh as a new Federal Minister saw him call in on the Menteri Besar, Ipoh City Mayor and also district officers.

At Stadium Indera Mulia, officers and staff of Ipoh City Council came out in full force to make the event a success. The various departments within the Council brought more joy when they competed against one another for the best booth accolade when they decorated their food booth as creatively as possible according to the “Hari Raya” theme. Points were also given for the amiability of those manning the booths, cleanliness and tidiness.

Yours truly ended up being on the panel of jurors for the competition. It was hard work but fun! At the end of the event, the winner was declared. It was the Department of Valuation and Property Management (Jabatan Penilaian & Pengurusan Harta), surprisingly, for the THIRD consecutive year. These guys are that good!

Invited guests were feted to a scrumptious Malay lunch amidst entertainment by the Council’s very own singing and dancing troupe, Gema Warisan Budaya. They were also keep excited by a raffle where household electrical appliances were given away to the lucky ones.
