Highlights of Malaysia International Travel Mart (MITM) Travel Fair 2019 @ Ipoh
As mentioned on my Facebook, I would be hunting for bargain travel packages this weekend at MITM Travel Fair, but I “tak boleh tahan” – went on the first day itself.
Yes, I have been bitten by the travel bug and the antidote is to keep travelling. What else to do?
If you’ve been to a similar travel fair (or travel mart), you’d surely know how the various packages and offers can cause confusion, right? Which is a better deal?
Well, I have done the ground work for you, so you don’t have to, and selected the highlights of this edition’s MITM Travel Fair.
One of the top deals that I came across is the one to Da Nang, Vietnam. This city in central Vietnam has been very popular lately due to viral photos of the Golden “Buddha Hand” Bridge. Other cities included in this tour are Hoi An, Bana Mountain, Hue and Cam Thanh.
As I am planning to visit Vietnam, this package is of particular interest to me. For a 5D/4N vacation, it costs just RM2,488 per person. During peak season, it’s merely an additional RM100 to RM200.
My flexible work schedule allows me to enjoy this saving, as I can certainly select off peak days to go on a holiday. According to the sales personnel, the nearest tour date is 21st Sept, 2019.
This package is offered by premier Ipoh travel agency, Golden Century Tour & Travel Sdn Bhd. Travellers who take up tour packages by Golden Century during this 3-day MITM Travel Fair at Ipoh Parade enjoy early bird discounts, free travel insurance and other travel-related gifts, such as a 20″ trolley bag (for selected tours). Travel insurance is compulsory for me in interational travels.
If Vietnam is too mainstream for you, perhaps the company’s new Classic Silk Road route would interest you.
This 9D/7N tour takes one from Lanzhou to Urumqi, Turpan, Dunhuang, Jiayuguan, Zhangye, Wuwei, before returning to Kuala Lumpur. Part of the tour includes a train ride to Dunhuang, which is apt for tourists who are into rail travel.
Oh, by the way, if you have read about my Taiwan Small Town Ramble sharing, this is a private tour that is exclusively offered by Golden Century Tour & Travel Sdn Bhd, so ask them about it.
Taiwan is a seriously enchanting country, and even if you have visited before, don’t let that stop you from going again. I can say for certain, my second trip to the island nation will be happening soon.

Checking out MITM 2019 today, one of the best deals that I came across is Encore Melaka, with tickets selling at a massive 50% discount. They are being offered as follows: Buy 2 Free 2; RM296 for 4 Standard Seats or RM496 for 4 Premium Seats.
Need just two tickets? Of course it’s possible, at only RM298 for two Standard Seats, inclusive of a night’s stay in a Premier Room at The Pines Melaka, with complimentary buffet breakfast for two. These super savers are really hard to beat!
If you have not watched the show yet, this is the time to get these open tickets, valid until 31st December, 2019. Even if you have watched before, what’s the harm of going again? A second round would give you a better understanding of the storyline.
When I was there in September last year, I did not have enough time to pose for photographs outside the highly Instagrammable Encore Melaka theatre. Argh, that calls for a revisit, I don’t care! Read about my review of Encore Melaka HERE.
One more package that caught my eye was the Genting Dream Cruise, ex-Singapore. Going on a cruise has been a long dream of mine. It’s currently going at Buy 1 Free 1, only at MITM Travel Fair 2019. 4D/3N cruise starts from only RM2,502 per pax, while 6D/5N is being sold from RM3,045 per pax.
During this promotion, flight tickets to Singapore from Kuala Lumpur are also going at half price, only for these cruise buyers. The cruise deals are offered by Parlo Tours Sdn Bhd. I am salivating, I tell you.
Oh yes, I cannot miss out the spanking new travel package called Alibaba – Shanghai Village Tour offered by Airlink.
Part of this tour includes a night’s stay at an A.I. hotel, where everything is done via voice command; a visit to Xiaoshan Robot Town as well as to Shanghai’s Starbucks Reserve Roastery, the largest Starbucks outlet in the world.
From what I heard, tourists pay for their purchases using Alipay mobile wallet. Looking at the itinerary, I really hope that I can go on this technologically-advanced tour some day, but it is 8D/7N. A tad long. What do you think?
By the way, one of the main attractions of booking a tour at MITM Travel 2019 is the opportunity to participate in a lucky draw. RM300 gains you an entry, and might just win you the grand prize of 6D/4N Seoul / Nami Island / Soyanggang Skywalk for 2 persons.
Imagine buying one tour and winning another. There are altogether 45 prizes; plenty to go around, including flight tickets, adventure tours, hotel stays and cash vouchers.
Well, I’ve done the hard work. Now is the time to decide which deal to go with. Backside itchy alreadyyyyyy!!!
