The crowd was massive at Tow Boh Keong temple in Ipoh on the eve of Chinese New Year.

Surprisingly, given that Astro was in Ipoh for its live broadcast of Chinese New Year Countdown Festival at Kuan Yin Tong on the same night.

Besides praying for a better year ahead this Year of the Wooden Horse, devotees were treated to lion and dragon dance performance and fireworks display.

Guest-of-honour, Y.B. Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan (MCA Secretary-General), was mobbed by the crowd when he distributed ang pow, known as ‘li xi’ (Mandarin) or ‘lucky money’. It is given to extend well-wishes to recipients during Chinese New Year.
