Announcement: Project KANA Zen Concert in Ipoh by Kana Madarame
Ipohites will be treated to a unique performance by Japanese trumpet virtuoso Kana Madarame on 2nd March, 2019! Mark your calendar, clear your schedule.
This is one impressive recital you wouldn’t want to miss, as Madarame’s repertoire will feature Tetsunosuke Kushida’s compositions: Haikai Suite, Matsuri (Ritual ballad), and Sakura (Contemplating the cherry blossoms).
As the music illuminates interesting facets of Japanese spirit and culture, feel a sense of calmness envelop you, as these compositions are meant to do.
As you can already tell, this event promises to be a fascinating cultural and musical insight. Don’t know Japanese? Not to worry, as introduction to the music will be in both Japanese and English languages.
Fresh from a very successful European tour, Madarame will also treat us to popular favourites such as Just A Closer Walk With Thee, Amazing Grace, and more!
Besides being a performer, a band director and conductor, Madarame is a trumpet teacher. She is currently a member of the faculty at Tokyo Gakugei University, Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, Shobi Music College, and Bunka Gakuen University High School in Tokyo.
Recently, Madarame set up Project KANA~harmonize with infinity~, which aims to build a bridge between different cultures. This has brought her to perform in Ipoh for the first time.
Accompanying Madarame is Tatsuya Ito on the piano. An accomplished musician himself, Ito performs more than 200 concerts annually.
