Celebrating International Women’s Day 2012

How was International Women’s Day for you? I attended a function hosted by Inner Wheel Club of Ipoh East, where ten exemplary women of our community were honoured for their dedication in service to humankind. Well, it’s about time!

Inner Wheel Club of Ipoh East is a member club of International Inner Wheel, a women’s service organisation that was incepted in 1924 as the female counterpart of Rotary International.

International Women’s Day was first celebrated on 8th March, 1911, which makes this year the 101st year. The theme for 2012 is “Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures”. Some organisations celebrate women’s achievements the whole month through.
