25th SAS Cup 2016: Prize Presentation

The 25th Silver Jubilee Sultan Azlan Shah Cup came to a close with Australia lifting their ninth title, defeating India 4 – 0.


This edition of international invitational men’s field hockey tournament saw a maximum participation of seven teams. Besides the Kookaburras and India, the other teams were Canada, Japan, Pakistan, New Zealand and host country, Malaysia.


Today’s photos were all taken during the prize presentation, shortly after the final whistle was blown.

Champions: Australia
Runners-up: India
3rd: New Zealand
4th: Malaysia
5th: Pakistan
6th: Canada
7th: Japan

Best Goalkeeper: Kyle Pontifex (New Zealand)
Top Scorer: Muhammad Arslan Qadir (Pakistan) with 6 goals
Man of the Match (Finals): Thomas Craig (Australia)
Player of the Tournament: Blake Groves (Australia)
Fair Play (Raja Ashman Shah Challenge Trophy): New Zealand

This tournament has just wrapped up and I am already looking forward to the next one in 2017!

Did not really catch on the live match but a great well done to Australia.
U must like watching this kind of sports tournament. I am opposite, i don’t really like sports. Playing sports sometimes is okay, but watching the tournament is not really my thing. Hehe
Not a sporty gal, but I’m happy that Malaysia won 4th. Hope they can win 1st place next year!

Ah so fun, always wanted to go watch the last 2 years but always end up clashing with my own work 🙁
